Groupon + Social Media = Doubled Donations for Save the Children
This just came across the transom today and I’m seriously impressed. Talk about a clever way to say, “You wanted a measurable ROI for social media? I’ll give you an ROI.” Save the Children partnered with Groupon for a matching gift campaign, and it’s social media that made it sing. New donors (likely younger donors), new matched money, new exposure to the brand? Trifecta.
Social media integration for the individual - my thoughts thus far
So it’s been about three weeks since I started to really integrate my social media presence and I thought I’d conduct a wee review for myself. Ignore me at you leisure.
I’ve been active in online communities since 1999, always under some pseudonym and generally for nothing more than amusement. I’ve had a Facebook page since they opened things up to non-edu addresses. I’ve been blogging for the last three years to varying degrees of intensity.
In my professional capacity, I’ve integrated all these elements. At work, I FB and tweet and blog; I develop and weave into our messages dynamic video/audio/photo content to encourage sharing, “liking” and “following”; I wrap it all up into our website and pay special mind to repurposing content and cross-linking and so on. And yet, I’d never done so for my personal online presence, until now.
